God loves you.
Many people picture God as far away, or as a judge who only waits for our mistakes. The Bible tells a different story: God created you, he knows you by name and he loves you. This love does not depend on how good you are.

John 3:16
The Bible describes God as perfectly good. We humans have moved away from him: we often think, speak and act against what is right. The Bible calls this sin. It works like a rift in a relationship that separates us from God, even though he loves us.
Romans 3:23 · Isaiah 59:2
Many try to make things right through being good, religion or achievement. That is understandable, but it is not enough: no one can pay off their own guilt. The Bible says that salvation is a gift we may receive, not a reward we have to earn. This is called grace.
Ephesians 2:8–9
Christians believe that Jesus is God’s Son, who became a human being. He lived without guilt and still died on the cross, even though he did not deserve it. There he took the punishment for our guilt, so that we can be reconciled with God. God himself built the bridge.
Romans 5:8
Three days after his death, Jesus rose from the dead, according to the account in the Bible. The tomb was empty, and his friends saw him afterwards. For Christians this means: God has confirmed Jesus, and death does not have the last word. Whoever belongs to Jesus has hope beyond death.
1 Corinthians 15:3–4
Believing here means trusting God and handing him your guilt, instead of trying to carry it yourself. There is no fixed formula. What matters is that you mean it honestly. For example, you could pray: “Lord Jesus, I believe that you died for me and rose again. Forgive my sins and come into my life. Thank you that I can belong to you.”
John 1:12 · Romans 10:9
If you have taken this step, we rejoice with you. Three things help you now: read the Bible, ideally starting with the Gospel of John. Talk with God in prayer, simply in your own words. And look for contact with a church or with Christians near you. You are welcome to ask questions at any time. We are glad to help you go further.
Please look up the Bible references in your own Bible. You will find the texts in any common translation.
